Botanical Description

Corm tunic tough coriaceous splitting into basal teeth. Leaves up to thirteen, less than 1mm wide. Flowers about 6cm in height, pale blue or lilac blue, sometimes externally marked with a blue blotch, the throat deep yellow, spring. South-eastern Turkey, in rocky places at 1100-1800m. Horticultural experience of this species has been limited by its rarity. However, some forms, with turquoise-blue flowers are very desirable. Unfortunately it does not seem to be very robust and vegetative increase is very slow.
