Botanical Description

Kotschy ex Maw. Corm flat with parallel fibre membrane. Leaves three to four 1.5-2mm board, appearing long after the flowers. Flowers 9cm tall very pale lilac with white throat and prominent, much-divided white style, autumn. South-eastern Turkey amongst trees and scrub at 2000m. The name has been misapplied for many years in bulb catalogues to C. kotschyanus var. leucopharynx. The true plant, available only in recent years, is easy to grow in a bulb frame though not exciting horticulturally.
