Botanical Description

ex Boiss. Corm tunic parallel fibre membrane. Up to eight leaves produced with the flowers. Flowers 7-8cm high, yellow or orange-yellow, normally striped and feathered outside, some forms having a pungent scent, spring. Southern Turkey and Middle East in stony places, scrub or light woodland at 500-1600m. Needs a bulb frame and even there increases only slowly.
