Botanical Description

Corm tunic coarsely reticulate. Leaves three to four varying in width and appearing with the flowers. Flowers 8-10cm high, lilac with pale yellow throat and-various external feathering over a silvery or buff ground, late winter to spring. Northwestern Italy, in deciduous woods and grassland up to 600m. Easily cultivated, especially the vigorous cultivar 'Zwanenburg' which is lightly veined but lacks the prominent veining of some wild forms.
