Botanical Description

Corm tunic finely reticulate. Leaves unique in having a semicircular cross-section and a central pale stripe covering practically the whole of the surface. Flowers 6-8cm high, lilac or white, the style expanded and fringed and also lilac or white. Spain and Portugal in alpine meadows up to 2300m. Difficult to maintain, some form of protection to permit summer ripening seems essential. [Pl.130]
