Botanical Description

Corm tunic parallel fibres. Leaves narrow up to 1mm in width appearing with the flowers. Flowers 5-8cm tall, the perianth segments less than 2cm long, white or pale lilac with prominent purple stripes and feathering outside, autumn. Majorca, Minorca, in pine woodland and scrub up to 1500m. Despite its small size it is an attractive species and valuable for its early flowering (Nov. onwards). Hardy but best appreciated in the alpine house or bulb frame.
