Botanical Description

Corm tunic parallel fibres without basal rings. Leaves to 2.5mm wide, grey-green. Flowers 5-7cm high, deep blue with external veining and yellow throat. Northern Turkey, in alpine meadows at 2000-2800m. A choice species requiring and deserving glass protection. C. aerius is often misapplied to C. biflorus subsp. pulchricolor and certain cultivars such as C. 'Grey Lady'.
