Similar to C. plantagineum in foliage, but with sessile racemes bearing several long-pedicelled flowers about 1.3cm wide, in shades of blue to pink. East Africa, in seasonally dry grassland mainly around 2130m but over a range from 100-3000m. With C. plantagineum, one of the hardiest species.
