Botanical Description

Rootstock a cluster of small ovoid tubers. Stems 10-15cm tall. Leaves biternate, the ultimate lobes narrow and pale glaucous green. Flowers sky-blue, with somewhat down-curving spurs. Kashmir to southeastern Tibet, in open screes and amongst scrub at 3000-4500m. Group 1 and 2 in acid, well drained humusy soil.

Shade of blue can vary with the temperature. For i s16 2 C.c. subsp. ecristata, see C. ecristata.
