Height 10-80cm, usually under 30cm in cultivation. Leaves two to eight, 8-25cm long, oblanceolate, hairless except for the margins. Flowers bell-shaped, erect, 7-15mm long, white or pale lavender, in a loose raceme of up to ten. Fruits dark blue, smaller than those of C. andrewsiana. Himalaya and Eastern Asia, in birch forest and alpine scrub. This seems to be an easily-grown species, but does not always fruit freely.
