Superficially similar to C. magellanica, but the flowers are a much deeper and more solid green, the lip a more greeny yellow. The latter, narrowly ovate and longer (to 2-3cm ) is covered in the apical half in what appears to be stalked blobs which coalesce in the basal half to become continuous parallel rounded fleshy lamellae. Chile and Argentina from the volcanic Andes of the central and south and lake district in sheltered bunch fescue grass clearings in nothofagus woodland, open grassy alpine steppe and around fumaroles at 900-2300m. Flowers December to January in the wild.
