The common wallflower is too familiar in the garden scene to merit a place on the rock garden. Its dwarf, double yellow-flowered cultivar 'Harpur Crewe' is an exception, making a colourfully fragrant specimen plant for a rock crevice or dry wall where it will stay compact and long-lived.
