Ceratostigma
Family: Plumbaginaceae

Eight species of shrubs and perennials from Asia and eastern Africa. They have deciduous, alternate, simple leaves and terminal spikes or head-likeclusters of flowers like small primroses, usually in a shade of blue.

Uses

Although attractive and useful for their late flowering season, the species described are only suitable for the large rock garden. Any well drained soil is suitable but a sunny sheltered site is essential for prolific flowering. Propagation by cuttings in early or late summer, C. plumbaginoides can be divided in spring just as, or slightly before, young growth commences.
