Usually under 15cm in height with an eventual spread of 2m or more. Stems prostrate to decumbent forming a dense mat. Leaves in opposite pairs, oblanceolate to obovate, up to 1.5cm long, occasionally more, truncate, with three terminal teeth, dark green above, microscopically white hairy beneath. Flowers deep to pale blue, lavender or white, in small umbels, California to S.W. Oregon, on serpentine flats and slopes among scrub and in conifer forest at 650-1500m.
