Tufted perennial 15-30cm tall. Floral bracts three to five-lobed, yellow-tipped. Flowers up to 2.5cm long with a prominent galea, the calyx yellow-tipped. Montana to Nevada, Utah and Colorado, amongst sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata) at about 2000-2600m.
