tall in flower. Leaves somewhat shorter, more or less stiff, channelled, with scabrid margins and broad, glossy brown basal sheaths. Flowers with glossy, papery straw-coloured glumes, to 1cm long. Nutlet bristles six, feathery, fawn to pale reddish-brown, up to 1cm long, summer. South-eastern Australia including Tasmania, New Zealand and New Guinea, mainly on mountains, in bogs.
