This bushy annual attains 20-25cm in height, with erect, hispid stems. Leaves ovate to lanceolate, acuminate, the upper ones sessile and auricled. Flowers erect, bowl-shaped, 5-6cm wide with a very long style, white with purple veining in bud, dull purple within. A very distinct species and well worth a place in the rock garden or alpine house even though it must be renewed annually from fresh seed. Endemic to Anatolia, Turkey, where it occurs rarely among arbutus scrub and in rocky places.
