Botanical Description

Tufted and hispidly hairy throughout, with few to many, erect to ascending, 20-30cm long stems. Leaves at the base oblong-spathulate, crenate-serrate, l-3cm long, narrowed to 2cm petiole, those above oblong to lanceolate, shorter, sessile. Flowers about 2cm long, very narrowly funnel-shaped, violet, in head-like clusters, summer. Italy and Balkan peninsula to western Turkey, on limestone cliffs and in rocky scrub.
