Height 20-40cm. Stem erect, often branched with bulbils. Flowers one to three, erect, widely campanulate, white to yellowish or lavender, the sepals and petals pencilled with purple towards the base, and with a median reddish blotch surrounded by a yellow one. A few short hairs surround the gland which is an inverted ' V shape, not depressed, and densely hairy. Cahfornia in Sierra Nevada and north coast ranges. This species is closely related to C. luteus and C. vestae and is equally easy to grow.
