Botanical Description

Height 30-50cm. Stem erect, unbranched with one to three flowers. Flowers erect, widely campanulate, large, white or less frequently purple, with green shading towards the base and a deep purple transverse zigzag band above the glands and a similar-coloured blotch at the base of each petal and sepal with abundant long yellow hairs. The gland is depressed, elongated transversely, densely covered with yellow hairs. Mountain slopes of Montana, Wyoming, eastern Utah and Arizona. This is a spectacular and easily grown species.
