Similar to A. alpinus but with longer rhizomes and totally hairless, the leaves 3-6cm long, obovate or narrowly spathulate to linear-lanceolate. Flowerheads with white to pink or purple rays. Temperate southern South America including the Falkland Islands, in damp grassland and open places. Can self-sow when happily situated.
