Botanical Description

Woody based and almost subshrubby, tufted to hummock-forming, 10-15cm tall. Leaves spathulate to narrowly linear, 5-15mm long, grey-green. Flowerheads solitary, 2-3.5cm across, rays blue to deep violet. Northwestern U.S.A., above 1000m on dry rocky slopes, among sagebrush scrub and light pine-juniper woodland.
