Akin to A. subulata and also forming turf-like patches in the wild. Leaves dense, 1-2.5cm long, triangular-lanceolate to linear, deep lustrous green above, paler and matt below with long silvery-white scales at their overlapping bases. Flowers in clusters of one to three surrounded by a silvery-green bracts, 6-10 across, creamy-white, summer. Berries ovoid to almost globular, about 7mm long. Southern tips of Chile and Falkland Islands, in open, wet to moist habitats.
