Clump to colony-forming. Basal leaves oblanceolate, 4-7cm long, prominently veined. Flowerheads one to three, yellow, 3-5cm wide, sometimes more, on stems 30-80cm in height. California to British Columbia and Colorado, dry meadows and open slopes in the mountains.
