Spreading mat-forming habit, much branched with semi-woody rhizomatous runners, the aerial parts 2-7cm long. Leaves composed of seven or less usually rather broad and rounded, dark green and densely glandular leaflets up to 2cm long and either undulate, entire, or with large crenations or lobes, themselves crenate. Flowers rich yellow or almost orange, 4-5cm long, neatly disposed in small branched racemes. Chile and Argentina, from the central cordilleras to extreme northern desert Andes, but mainly in Argentina in dry, sandy, gravel benches and sparse grassy desert steppe from foothills upwards at 2000-3400m.
