Loosely tufted, forming small cushions. Leaves 4-8mm long, elliptic, glandular-hairy. Flowers to 1cm in diameter, pink to reddish-pink, on stems to 5cm, summer to early autumn. Kashmir to Bhutan on rocky slopes and screes at 4000-5500m. A.g. var. cernua has flowers 1.2cm or more wide on taller stems. [Pl.35]
