Botanical Description

more or less hummock-forming with age, flowering stems 15-30cm tall, erect.

Leaves oblong to obovate, toothed, bearing a few large stellate hairs. Flowers 6-10mm across, white, in sometimes branched racemes, spring to summer. Europe, but rare in the east, amongst mountain rocks and gravels. Variable in flower size, stature and number of rosettes per plant, intermediates connecting it with A. caucasica.
