A species confused in gardens with A. sempervivoides but non-stoloniferous and forming small mats or hummocks. Rosettes almost globular up to 1cm across. Leaves obovate, rounded tipped and mucronate. Flowers 6-8mm in diameter, white to deep pink, fragrant, in small, short-stalked umbels. North western Pakistan, Kashmir and western Tibet above 3000m, among rocks, screes and alpine meadows. Despite recent introductions, rare in cultivation, most plants under this name being the more easily grown A. sempervivoides.
