Bulbs ovoid, usually in clumps. Stems 25-40cm high. Leaves shorter than stems, linear, flat when young then rolling lengthwise. Flowers starry, about 1cm across, pink or white, in dense semi-globose umbels about 2.5cm or more across, late spring to early summer. California to British Columbia, on dry slopes and field edges below about 800m.
