Botanical Description

much branched procumbent perennial. Leaves sparsely hairy, l-3cm long. Leaflets six to eleven, obovate, very blunt-ended. Flowers solitary, about 1cm long, yellow, with a conspicuous brown-purple reverse to the standard, and large in relation to the plant, on peduncles up to 2cm in length, summer. Lomenta with eight to nine rough segments. Argentina and Chile from southern Patagonia and Fuegia, in open sandy stretches, dwarf turf pasture and scattered scrub, from sea level to 700m.
