Rhizomatous silky-downy perennial 3-10cm tall with sort branching leafy stems. Leaves sessile formed of two (rarely more) linear to linear-lanceolate to narrowly obovate leaflets 8-20mm in length. Flowers solitary, shapely, 9-12mm long on short pedicels exceeding the leaves and produced from their axils, yellow, the brown-violet pencilling from prominent and toothed calyces, early summer in the wild. Lomenta strongly articulated, downy, with six to eleven segments. Argentina and Chile, throughout Andean Patagonia and Fuegia, in exposed, open soily tracts, sandy places and among scrub from sea level to 1800m.
